Thermophysical Properties Research Laboratory is a business set up to measure
different thermal properties for most materials. The work that is done
here is based on the different methods that have been developed over the
years to measure these properties. The properties that we are able to
measure are :
Thermal Conductivity (solids,
some liquids, multilayer solids)
Thermal Expansion and
Coefficient of Expansion
Specific Heat
Thermal Diffusivity (solids,
some liquids, multilayer solids)
Electrical Resistivity
(electrically conductive samples)
Total Hemispherical Emissivity
Contact Conductance
Thompson Coefficient

also used to find the thermal diffusivity of materials such as large
grain composites, foams, and insulations.
- Multi-Properties
Aparatus. This is used to find several different properties for
materials that are electrically conductive.
- Modified Kolrausch
Technique. This method is used to determine the thermal
conductivity and electrical resistivity of electrical conductors.
- Differential Scanning
Calorimeter. This is used to measure specific heat.
- Push-Rod Dilatometer.
This is used to measure thermal expansion and CTE.
- Heated Probe
Apparatus. This is used to measure the thermal conductivity of a
liquid or granular low conductivity materials.
- Standardization
Facilities. This is used to compare measurement results with NIST
standards.
